Mission Teams

 

 

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION TEAM

     Purpose: to provide opportunities through which the community of faith can come to a deeper understanding of GOD’S will and purpose for us and to promote a deeper level of commitment to our faith.

     Duties: to have responsibility for all matters with regard to the planning and administration of an effective Christian Education program for people of all ages.

     Summary: in charge of Sunday school for kids, youth & adults, as well as bible studies on Monday evenings.  Also in charge of youth retreats, summer camps and youth outings.

     Current Team Leader is Wayne Wallace until June 30, 2008.

  

GROWTH TEAM

     Purpose: to promote growth in personal and corporate discipleship; to cultivate within CDS a desire to share the GOOD NEWS with those who have not yet received it; and to encourage those who have become interested in CDS to share in its witness by becoming active members.

     Duties: to be responsible for the planning, organizing, implementation and presentation of the Gospel to all persons within the reach of CDS; to greet members and visitors attending worship services; and to actively encourage visitation and other appropriate activities to bring new members into the Church.

     Summary: in charge of helping our church grow, including mailings to new homeowners in the area, banners, doorhangers, newspaper advertising, welcome brochures, doorstep ministry and hosts on Sunday mornings.  Also in charge of our monthly game night.

    Current Team Leader is Donna Belshaw until June 30, 2008.

MISSION & OUTREACH TEAM

     Purpose: to reach out to the community and the world in word and deed by caring, listening, sharing, serving and witnessing with commitment to GOD’S good news.

     Duties: to interpret and promote local, regional and world ministry and benevolent programs of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as well as approved ecumenical programs through education, participation in denominational and ecumenical activities, Regional and General Assemblies, conferences and retreats, so that in growing ways the Congregation will discover means of reaching out beyond itself to persons in need.

     Summary: in charge of going out into the community and helping others as a way of bringing more people to Christ.  Benevolence is in their hands.

     Current Team Leader is Pete Quick until June 30, 2008.

   

NURTURE TEAM

     Purpose: to promote the welfare and growth of CDS by encouraging a sense of community among the members of the Congregation; and to develop a spirit of love within the Church founded upon the common love of CHRIST.

     Duties: helping to assimilate new members into the life and programs of the Church; planning for and implementing fellowship events; and encouraging all persons to grow in their love for GOD and their neighbors.

     Summary: in charge of fellowship in our congregation, including dinners for members as well as coffee hour on Sunday mornings.  They also send cards to members on their birthdays and flowers to sick & funerals.

     Current Team Co-Leaders are Joyce Anderson, Connie Gilliland & Joan Carlson until June 30, 2008.

PROPERTY TEAM

     Purpose: to maintain and care for all CDS property and equipment.

     Duties: to be responsible for all of the property and equipment owned by CDS, including keeping all property and equipment in good condition, studying needs and making recommendations for improvements, caring for the grounds and providing proper protection of CDS premises and equipment.

     Summary: in charge of buildings and grounds.

     Current Team Leader is Tom Crozier until June 30, 2008.

 

STEWARDSHIP & FINANCE

     Purpose: to develop within the membership an understanding of the full meaning of Christian stewardship, and to direct the financial program of CDS so that it will not only supply the financial needs of CDS, but also prove to be a means of spiritual enrichment and growth in stewardship for all members.

     Duties: to seek to provide the financial means to support CDS programs, by promoting stewardship education; developing and overseeing the CDS budget; approving any and all CDS fundraising campaigns; seeking the growing commitment of every member in the support of the Church; encouraging personal stewardship of time, talent, money and other resources; and reporting from time to time upon the financial condition of CDS.

     Summary: in charge of the Fall Stewardship Campaign and is charged with making our members more aware of stewardship throughout the year.

     Current Team Leader is Wayne Anderson until June 30, 2008.

 

WORSHIP TEAM

     Purpose: to lead the Church in the genuine experience of worship, both corporate and personal; and to enrich personal and family devotional life.

     Duties: to coordinate the regular worship of the Church with special attention to seasons, themes and music; to plan and implement special worship services; and to assist the minister in planning and implementing other worship activities.  The Team shall also help to develop the spiritual life of the Congregation.

     Summary: in charge of our services, including bulletins and inserts, communion, music and music & video licenses.

     Current Team Leader is Mary Jane Hickey until June 30, 2008.
